"Clear abuse of office" - Cardinal Müller criticises German bishops for their anti-AfD stance. After the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party won 44% of the vote in Saxony-Anhalt, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller accused German bishops of interfering in party politics in an interview with Kontrafunk.radio on 11 September. Brazilian Bishop believes in "Goddess" and embraces "all sexual diversity": Bishop José Valdeci Santos Mendes, 64, of Brejo, Maranhão, presided over a Eucharist at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Conception on September 7, Brazil’s Independence Day. After Communion and before the final blessing, two young men recited the “Creed of the Youth of the Ecclesial Base Communities.” Developed in 2016, the text speaks of a “God/Goddess,” described as “liberating and revolutionary.” This creed explicitly rejects belief in a “hierarchical Church” while “embracing all sexual diversity.” Before the recitation, Bishop Mendes introduced the creed as a “supplication from the youth of Latin America, who stand before God asking him to come to meet us.”
